New At Tunes: Goth Balls |
Greetings,
A goth vicar is taking the Lord into his own hands at a
church in Cambridge, replacing the traditional hymns and
psalms with a selection of gloomy music from the likes of
the Sisters of Mercy and Depeche Mode.
Rev. Marcus Ramshaw's candlelit 'Goth Eucharist'
services at St. Edward King and Martyr Church also utilize
a specially written liturgy with a gothic slant, and
currently boast a congregation of some twenty panda-eyed
clots, praying as one for pastier faces, cheap hair dye
and an afterlife of free Prince Alberts and eyebrow bars
in the celestial tattoo joint.
Ramsham, 34, sheds a little dark on the situation:
"As goths, there is a broad sense of an outlook of life
that focuses on the bad things. The point of the service
is that we all get desperate at times. We all get knocks
and sometimes life seems hopeless." TURN THE GAS ON NOW.
But wait... It's ok, because: "The Goth Eucharist
re-establishes a link; God is still there for you even if
you have been blinded," says the daffy Reverend.
Best of all though, after the 45 minute God-jam,
the catatonic flock shuffle off to The Calling, a goth
evening at the nearby Kambar nightclub. That, as they say,
is Sunday sorted then...
