New At Tunes: Lennon, Bez, Booze... |
Greetings,
John Lennon is the latest subject of a televised
pay-per-view seance in the US, arranged by the
same production company - Starcast - who failed
to contact Princess Diana back in 2003. The Diana
show, hailed as a new low in television, drew over
half a million morons willing to pay $20.27 to
watch nothing happen. The Lennon version, due to
air on April 24th, comes in at just $13.49.
"People say this is disgusting, and I accept
that criticism," said hell-bound Starcast head Paul
Sharratt, "but we're making a serious attempt to do
something that many, many millions of people around
the world think is possible."
Part of the show will feature a spirit reader
at an ashram in India who believes he can contact
Lennon to receive musical notes and lyrics from the
other side. Any notations are to be flown to Los
Angeles, where a composer will arrange the notes and
add vocals and accompaniment to produce a new song.
Back in Manchester, Happy Mondays star Bez has set
a new world record by leading 407 people in the
biggest ever maracas ensemble.
I need a drink.
