New At Tunes: Twain Driver |
Greetings,
Among a seemingly endless series of 'you couldn't
make it up' stories comes the news that a drink-
driver has recently escaped conviction in Canada
because he believed that Shania Twain was helping
him to drive.
Matt Brownlee was arrested after police
spotted a pickup truck speeding along a busy street
in downtown Ottawa, but after the usual blow-into
-the-bag routine, the 33-year-old boozehound played
his nut card, ultimately confessing to a gaggle of
shrinks at Brockville Psychiatric Hospital that he
believed the country singer was helping him drive.
When the case came to court a judge ruled
that Brownlee - who was banned from driving for
life in back in 1996 when he mowed down and killed
an Ottawa woman and her 12-year-old son while out
of his swede on grog - was not criminally responsible
because he suffered from delusions that female
celebrities communicated with him telepathically.
Yeah, I get that too...
