During the late 60s and early 70s there was a concerted movement in black music away from traditional forms of jazz and r & b. The new form mixed together all the influences that had prevailed on the musicians. This new music became known as fusion. Famous fusion LPs like Miles Davis` "Bitches Brew" and Herbie Hancock`s "Chameleon" may have sold millions of copies, but although not perhaps as well known, the music featured here is as much a part of the history of black music as those big tracks.
