When Dr Frankenstein attempted to create a whole from surplus parts, he created a monster which eventually destroyed him. The question remains as to whether Ian O` Brien succeeds where Frankenstein failed? Abstract Funk Theory is indeed successful in it`s fusion of solid mellow urban basslines with well crafted jazz undertones. This is best demonstrated by Anthony Shakir`s "Fact Of The Matter", L.A Synthesis Vs Johnny Astro`s" Doidy Dawg" and Jazzanova`s "Introspection". All of which demonstrate a passion, which fortunately for us does not get out of control.
