Charles Earland is one of the Hammond organs greatest exponents, his aggressive all action style contrasted with his contempories such as Jimmy McGriff and Jimmy Smith. That style earnt him the accolade of `The Mighty Burner`. Note that the vinyl version of this album is available as two separate double LPs.

Hi, I'm not too crazy about Charles Earland's music. 8 years ago a friend of mine let me borrow one of his dad's records called "Leaving This Planet." I really liked one song in particular off of that recording called "Red Clay." It has a well known melody, and Earland's version is a spacey and cool. If you Red Clay, then I'd buy this anthology just for his version, or just track down the "Leaving This Planet" LP. Other stuff I've heard frm Earland sounds very dated compared to what kind of music is popular now, if you listen to the promo-tracks on www.tunes you'll see what I mean.
