Pioneering Cuban percussionist Ramón 'Mongo' Santamaria was among the most acclaimed exponents of Latin jazz and embryonic funk. Responsible for huge hits like 'Watermelon Man' and 'Afro Blue' he is also credited as having discovered Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea. The brilliant Vampi Soul label has collected some of Mongo's finest moments here. Double vinyl is 220g pressing.
