About Grand Central...
Founded in early 1995 by Mark Rae of Rae & Christian, Manchester label Grand Central was originally called Gone Clear Records until it was discovered that there was a promotions company trading in London with the same name. Quickly hailed as the future of underground British hip hop, GC has played a key role in the development of the genre over the past eight years. |

Grand Central Biography
Alongside releases from Rae & Christian themselves and their associated side projects, GC has been behind some of the most worthy and significant hip hop, beats, leftfield and eclectica releases of recent times. Artists include: Aim (beatsmith responsible for albums 'Cold Water Music', 'Hinterland' and singles compilation 'Means of Production'; Fingathing (double bass and decks combo Peter Parker and Sneaky, "intent on transplanting a smile onto the serious face of hip hop"); Jon Kennedy (orchestral sweeps, intricately laid beats and spoken word samples, and a drummer by craft); Rae & Christian (production duo Mark Rae and Steve Christian, sometime collaborators with anyone from Bobby Womack to Jeru the Damaja. "One of the most ambitious and creative production teams around"); Only Child (the soul daddy of GC has DJed and run the Electric Chair clubnight for the last eight years); Funky Fresh Few (original Blackpool B-Boys on a strictly hip hop tip); Niko (just signed to GC, Hailing from New York, already worked with Mr Scruff, Only Child and Aim) |
